Opened in October 1941, this Art Deco building was Ford Motor's first car assembly plant in Southeast Asia. It was here on 15 February 1942 that the surrender of Singapore was signed. Gazetted as a National Monument on 15 February 2006, it reopened the next day as Memories at Old Ford Factory, a permanent exhibition gallery based on oral history accounts of the war years.
More recently, it has just reopened on 16 February 2017 after a period of refurbishment in time to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Fall of Singapore, the permanent exhibition has been updated with a new format and a brand new collection on display, most of which has not been on public display before.
